QUESTION:

Someone close to me has an anal fissure, which I never even heard about before. They've been told there is no cure. Can you please give some natural remedies for this and is it true there is no cure? Please help as it's very painful. Thank you so much and God bless for helping so many people with your information.

ANSWER:

Hello Dorothy, and thank you for your question regarding natural remedies for anal fissures.

Firstly, anal fissures ARE curable, so whoever gave them that information is wrong.

Anal fissures (tearing of the lower rectum lining) is usually caused from trying to pass hard stools (constipation), however, other possible causes include persistent diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, straining during childbirth, and tight anal sphincter muscles. Symptoms can include anal itching and sharp pain (brief or long-lasting), aong with bleeding when passing stools.

To successfully treat and cure anal fissures, you need to soothe and repair the anal canal, along with getting the colon healthy and working correctly again.

Here's the top 7 ways to do this...

Home Remedy for Anal Fissures #1... Olive Oil: Olive oil is excellent for lubricating the entire bowel system and loosening stools. The anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil also help to reduce the pain and inflammation caused from anal fissures. A 2006 study found that olive oil, combined with honey and beeswax, was able to significantly reduce the pain, bleeding and itching associated with anal fissures.

Take two tablespoons of olive oil with a teaspoon of organic local or Manuka honey every night before bed. When it comes to purchasing your olive oil, only ever buy organic, cold pressed olive oil in dark bottles from your local health food stores. Do not purchase any oils whatsoever from your local supermarket. These varieties are toxic and rancid. Manuka honey can also be bought from most health food stores or online.

Natural Remedy for Anal Fissures #2... Cod Liver Oil and Coconut Oil: Both of these also soothe the bowel, soften stools and repair the damage that's been caused by anal fissures. And best of all, they work very quickly!

Only take the fermented cod liver oil capsules (follow the directions on the bottle for dosages) and buy organic virgin coconut oil. The coconut oil can easily be mixed in a smoothie or your morning cereal (such as oatmeal). 1-2 tablespoons per day is the recommended amount.

Natural Cure for Anal Fissures #3... Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV): An amazing water soluble fiber in apple cider vinegar called pectin helps improve digestion and promote regular (and normal) bowel movements. ACV also helps to recolonize the digestive system, particularly the bowel, with
essential good gut bacteria.

Just make sure the ACV you buy is organic and still contains the "mother" apple (very important). You can find apple cider vinegar in either liquid or capsule form. With the liquid, mix a tablespoon in a glass of warm filtered water and drink once to twice daily. With the capsules, consult the container for dosage amounts.

Natural Treatment for Anal Fissures #4... Probiotics: A healthy supply of good gut bacteria (probiotics) is 100% essential for the treatment, and further prevention of anal fissures. These amazing little guys colonize in the bowel (which is a good thing) and they are the main reason for your colon saying healthy and disease free. The problem is probiotics have a high turnover rate, so you need to keep replacing them or the bad bacteria will quickly take control and cause all sorts of bowel problems, including abnormal bowel movements (which of course leads to problems such as anal fissures) and eventually bowel cancer.

To get your daily dose of healthy gut bacteria, take a good quality probiotic supplement with your ACV. This will help to quickly recolonize the bowel, and in turn, prevent and treat colon problems such as anal fissures... for good!

For specific dosage amounts, follow the directions on the bottle.

Home Remedy for Anal Fissures #5... Fiber: Fiber is your bowels best friend. It helps to soothe and heal the wall lining, along with softening up stools so you don't put extra pressure on the bowel trying to pass hard stools. This prevents damage to the rectum lining.

Eat plenty of fiber rich foods including fresh fruits and vegetables, and cereals such as oatmeal. Flax seeds are also extremely good for the health of the bowel so try and add a spoonful of ground up flax seeds to your morning cereal as well.

Natural Remedy for Anal Fissures #6... Aloe Vera: A 2014 study found a topical cream containing aloe vera juice was highly effective for treating chronic anal fissures. Aloe vera contains extensive healing properties and pain-relieving chemicals so be sure to find yourself an all natural aloe vera cream or gel and apply to the affected area when needed.

Natural Cure for Anal Fissures #7... Comfrey Cream: The medicinal properties contained in comfrey cream helps to regenerate skin tissue and assist in the healing process. Comfrey cream is particularly useful for reducing the pain and inflammation associated with anal fissures. You can buy comfrey creams online or find them at your local health food store or pharmacy (drug store).

So hopefully these 7 tips and remedies help your loved one out Dorothy.

Good luck and all the best to you!

So are we meant to be taking these orally or applying to the anus? I have been suffering for months. Doc gave me "a potion" to clear it but nothing! An antibiotic cream helps but is not healing. Help!!!

The aloe vera and comfrey cream are both external remedies and should be applied to the anus. The other remedies are all internal treatments. Follow the directions listed and you'll see some dramatic (and soothing) results.

All the best!
