Best home remedies for quick cellulite removal

Cellulite? Just the mere mention of the word can make many women shiver. Looking in the mirror and seeing cellulite developing on your own body though can be nothing short of traumatic!!

If you’re suffering from cellulite right now (which is highly likely since you’re here looking for natural and home remedies for cellulite) then you’ll know what we’re talking about. Fortunately, you can get rid of cellulite quite easily (and for good) with the natural treatments we are about to list. And you don’t need to spend a fortune either. You do, however, need to invest a certain amount of time, money and effort if you want real results. The ultimate reward of being able to finally wear that short skirt or bikini (and actually feel comfortable showing off your body instead of covering it up) will certainly make it all worthwhile though.

So What Is Cellulite and What Actually Causes It?

It’s estimated that around 85% of women suffer from cellulite, and in the over 30’s group, it’s up around 95%. Of the women who do suffer from cellulite, it would be safe to say that 100% of them hate it with a passion! This problem also affects women of every shape and size too, which lays to rest the mistaken belief that you must be overweight or “fat” to have cellulite. The most prone areas of the body are the thighs, back of the legs, hips, buttocks and stomach.

Cellulite is made up of free-floating fat cells that lie just beneath the skins surface (these lumpy little fatty deposits look just like cottage cheese or cheesecake dimples). These “cellulite dimples” start to become really noticeable when the connective tissues that hold the skin and muscle together develop a thick layer of fat between them. As this “free floating” fat accumulates and expands in size, it pushes up against the skin, which gives the lumpy appearance and dimpling effect. Hormonal changes and a build-up of toxins and chemicals in the body, particularly in the fat cells, are the two most common causes of this condition. Here are some others…

  • Unhealthy diet.
  • Fad dieting.
  • Sluggish metabolism.
  • Lack of anaerobic exercise.
  • Dehydration
  • Poor circulation
  • Lack of collagen strength and health
  • Thickness and color of skin.

Treating Cellulite is Big Business…

Billions of dollars are spent each year by women on cellulite reduction. Costs can range anywhere from $20-$30 for a cellulite reduction cream, to around $5,000-$7,000 for the latest treatments such as Cellulaze and PelleFirm. There’s also the plastic surgery option of liposuction if you have more money than you know what to do with! But the fact is, spending a fortune on the latest medi-spa treatment, laser treatment, exfoliated massage or firming product is a just a waste of your hard earned money. Although you may notice an improvement (sometimes) it’s usually only minimal and doesn’t last very long (which many women fail to realize beforehand). You also need to continue to have regular treatments all year round, which further empties your bank account whilst filling up your beauticians or surgeons.

So our advice for anyone who’s even thinking about going down this expensive road is, firstly… don’t do it! But if that isn’t enough then at least talk to five independent people beforehand (in person or online) who’ve had the procedure done or used the product you’re thinking about using and see what they have to say. Find out if the cost is worth the reward.

Secondly, don’t listen to any sales people, beauticians or surgeons that are associated with these products or procedures. Of course they’re going to tell you it’s the best cellulite treatment on the planet!! And the truth is, you don’t need their expensive methods anyway. You absolutely can get rid of your cellulite using natural treatments and home remedies, as long as you are willing to follow some basic guidelines and put in some consistent effort. Here’s how…

Our Top 15 Home Remedies for Cellulite Removal…

“Natural Remedies for Cellulite” #1… Detox!

Detoxing to remove cellulite fast

We are all exposed to numerous amounts of toxins and chemicals every day from our food, water, and the air we breathe. In fact, there’s virtually no way to escape them (unless you move to the Antarctic!). The problem is, these toxins and chemicals get stored in our bodies and accumulate over time. Besides the health risks they pose, toxins also cause unwanted problems such as cellulite. The human body is smart. Rather than allowing toxins to accumulate in our organs, it will instead try and store as much of them as possible in our fat cells first. So of course, the “free floating” fat cells that are causing your cellulite are going to be chock full of these toxins! The problem is, toxins cause fat cells to grow and swell in size, so for someone with cellulite, this is obviously not good. As these free floating fat cells expand and push up against the skin even more, your cellulite becomes worse and more visible.

So giving your body a powerful detox is definitely the first thing you must do to get rid of your cellulite. Start eating a clean, green, unprocessed diet as soon as you can. This means all refined and processed foods (and junk foods) are out and fruits and veggies are in! Get yourself a Nutribullet (or something similar) and start juicing every day. The investment you make in one of these appliances will definitely pay big dividends in the long run. Not only will you rid yourself of your cellulite, you’ll be a thousand times healthier and have loads more energy to boot!

In addition, purchase a good quality green food supplement such as wheat grass powder, chlorella or spirulina (you can also add any of these to your smoothie mix). These green foods are some of the most powerful detoxifiers and cleansers on the planet!

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #2… Hydration:

Dehydration is definitely one of the main causes of cellulite. It gives the skin a shrivelled, aged and lumpy look that’s not attractive at all. Hydration, on the other hand, smooths the skins surface to give it a healthy glow and texture. Water also helps with detoxification. So start drinking, at the very minimum, eight to ten glasses of filtered water every day. Try and drink your first two glasses first thing in the morning too, before you have anything to eat or drink. And be sure to add a slice or two of fresh lemon or cucumber (or both) to your water as well. Lemons and cucumber are powerful detoxifiers.

“Natural Treatment for Cellulite” #3… Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV):

Apple cider vinegar is an excellent and fast-acting remedy for cellulite. It contains the essential minerals potassium, magnesium and calcium, which all help to detox the body and remove excess fluid (retention). ACV also helps to build up the good bacteria in your stomach and colon. This not only improves your digestion and assimilation of food and nutrients, it also provides a further detox and cleanse by helping your body get rid of all the toxic crap (pardon the pun) that now needs to be removed. In addition, apple cider vinegar helps with brown fat metabolism (the main type of body fat) so it’s also an excellent weight loss and toning aid.

When you look to purchase your ACV, it’s important that you only buy the organic apple cider vinegar which still contains the “mother” apple (like these). This is ACV in its raw, unprocessed state. Never, ever use distilled or processed vinegar's of any kind.

So there are two ways to use the apple cider vinegar for cellulite reduction. Firstly, (and most importantly) as an internal remedy, and secondly, as an external remedy…

For internal use, mix one to two tablespoons of ACV in a glass of warm, filtered water and drink five minutes before a meal. Repeat this process 3 times a day. You may also add a teaspoon of manuka honey to the mix if you find yourself struggling with the taste. The better option, however, may be to go with the easy-to-swallow apple cider vinegar capsules instead.

For external use, make an ACV body wrap by mixing apple cider vinegar and water in equal parts, then rubbing this solution on the affected area. Wrap the area(s) in plastic wrap and a warm towel for 1 hour before showering.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #4… Cayenne Pepper:

Cayenne pepper is definitely one of our favorite “cure all” remedies. There’s virtually nothing this powerful spice can’t help with. And cellulite reduction and weight loss are certainly at the top of its list!

Cayenne pepper is a strong thermogenic, which means it heats up the body so it naturally burns calories (and fat). The other big benefit of cayenne pepper is it increases blood flow and circulation in the body (remember, poor circulation is another major cause of cellulite). And it’s also a very potent detoxifier as well!

So be sure to take ½-1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper powder twice daily and use it in your cooking as much as possible. Or, add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper with one teaspoon of finely grated ginger and the juice from one freshly-squeezed lemon to a glass of warm water. Mix well and drink this twice daily. Be aware that cayenne pepper is hot, so if you struggle with the heat then the next best and easiest option may be taking cayenne pepper in capsule form. In addition, if you aren't used to having hot peppers then be sure to start off on a low amount then slowly build up as your body becomes more adapted to the heat of the pepper.

“Natural Remedies for Cellulite” #5… Boron:

Boron removes cellulite fast and for good

Many young women find themselves developing cellulite during their puberty years as their hormones are raging and bouncing all over the place. If their hormones remain unbalanced (due to unhealthy lifestyle habits, use of pharmaceuticals such as the contraceptive pill, etc) their cellulite will continue to advance, even when they move into their 20’s and 30’s. Then once a woman hits her perimenopausal, menopausal and postmenopausal years, cellulite can, and usually does, accelerate even more. New research is now beginning to show just how much of a powerful role unbalanced hormones actually play in body fat accumulation, fluid retention, and cellulite in women.

So balancing your hormones is absolutely vital for getting rid of cellulite permanently. Unbalanced hormones don’t just cause cellulite either, they cause all sorts of undesirable “womanly problems” including gynecological problems and emotional problems. This is where the trace mineral boron comes in…

Boron is the most important and crucial nutrient for balancing estrogen and progesterone in women and testosterone in men… hands down! In fact, if you're suffering from any of the health problems mentioned above then there’s a good chance you’re chronically deficient in this essential mineral. Boron is the main precursor for all of your hormones, especially your sex hormones. Because of the farming methods used today, our produce is almost completely void of boron so supplementation is crucial. There are two ways to do this…

The first is by taking a boron supplement every day. You can purchase boron in 3-6 mg liquid or capsule amounts. Take 6-10 mg’s a day for best results and continue with this indefinitely. Remember, boron is not just a temporary treatment for cellulite, it’s a lifelong health treatment. You can also take borax (fit for human consumption of course) as well. Borax is basically 100% boron and much cheaper to buy, but still does exactly the same job. We recommend you take the time to read this terrific article on boron/borax for a complete understanding of its amazing health benefits…. The Borax Conspiracy. You will also find specific dosages and recommendations listed in there as well.

In addition to this, make sure you take a good quality magnesium supplement in conjunction with your boron. Magnesium is vital for hormone function and is needed for the absorption of boron. This particular coral calcium supplement is ideal, and contains magnesium and boron at the optimum levels, along with highly absorbable forms of calcium, vitamin D, C & E and many other essential nutrients... Barefoot Coral Calcium Complete.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #6… Maca:

The maca herb is also fantastic for correcting hormonal imbalances. It’s been used for thousands of years to increase energy, stamina and endurance and overcome fatigue, along with increasing sex drive and balancing hormone levels in both women and men. You can take maca in conjunction with your boron for an added benefit if you like (not a requirement though). Maca is especially useful for women who are going through menopause as well as suffering from cellulite and weight gain.

“Natural Treatment for Cellulite” #7… Omega-3 and Vitamin D…

The omega-3 essential fatty acid, along with vitamin D are crucial for balancing out hormones and stimulating brown fat metabolism (the fat you don’t want on your body!). They also activate the production of collagen and reduce inflammation throughout the body, both of which help to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Best source of omega-3 and vitamin D is fermented cod liver oil. Evening primrose oil is also excellent, especially for women. In addition, getting out in the sun (for extra vitamin D) and eating plenty of omega-3 rich fish such as salmon, herring, mackerel and tuna is also important.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #8… Green Tea:

Green tea powerful cellulite treatment

The powerful antioxidants (catechins) in green tea fight off deadly free radicals and help remove toxins from the body. Green tea is also a potent thermogenic, so it helps you burn body fat (including cellulite fat) for energy. These two reasons make it a perfect remedy for cellulite. Try and aim for at least 3-4 cups a day for best results.

“Natural Remedies for Cellulite” #9… Zeolite:

This is one natural treatment for cellulite that not many women are familiar with. But don’t be fooled because it’s actually one of the best! Zeolite is an extremely powerful detoxifier, and the real benefit for cellulite sufferers is it seems to specifically target toxins within the fat cells and penetrates deep within. The scientific evidence isn’t here yet (no studies have been done) but many women absolutely swear by zeolite for cellulite reduction. And it doesn’t seem to matter where the cellulite is located. Thighs, hips, stomach, and back of the legs all seem to respond very well. The only down side... it’s not overly cheap.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #10… Gelatin:

Poor collagen strength and health is thought to be a major cause of cellulite. A lack of collagen also gives you that tired, dry and wrinkled skin look (which no woman wants). Thankfully, gelatin is rich in dietary collagen. And by taking a little gelatin every day, you won’t just notice your cellulite staring to fade, you’ll also notice your skin, hair and nails all looking much more healthier and youthful as well. Collagen is the protein that holds all of these things together. Gelatin also contains excellent amounts of the amino acids, glycine and proline, both of which are vital for fat and weight regulation and peak immune function.

You can buy gelatin from virtually any supermarket, and it’s not expensive. Use it to make bone broths and stock or use it in your soups and stews. Alternatively, just add a tablespoon to your detox smoothie every day!

“Natural Treatment for Cellulite” #11… Skin Brushing:

Dry skin brushing is one of the most popular home remedies for cellulite reduction. If you’ve already been searching for cellulite treatments, you would have come across this one (on more than one occasion most likely). The reason we’ve put it right down on our list is because dry skin brushing is essentially useless unless you combine it with internal remedies. Done in the right way, skin brushing helps to increase blood flow and remove toxins from the body by stimulating the lymphatic system (the lymph sits just underneath the skins surface where your cellulite is located). Using this external treatment with the internal treatments listed above is very powerful indeed. So to give yourself a dry skin brush here’s what you need to do…

·         Make sure your skin and brush are dry first.

·         Lightly brush your skin starting from your feet and working your way up to your shoulders. Make sure you pay extra     attention to the areas with the most cellulite. Brush from the left to the right side of your body and keep your brushing movements focused toward your heart to promote strong blood circulation.

·         Do this for five to ten minutes.

·         Have a nice warm shower to wash away all impurities and dead skin cells.

·         Be sure to do a dry skin brush once a day (every day) before showering and continue until you’re cellulite is either gone or reduced significantly.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #12… Coffee Scrub and Wrap:

DIY home made coffee scrub for cellulite removal

Personal trainer and weight loss guru, Jillian Michaels, from Biggest Loser fame recommends coffee scrubs and wraps for reducing cellulite. The reason they work so well is because of the caffeine, which effectively increases blood flow and tightens and firms the skin. Coffee also exfoliates to quickly remove dead skin cells and regenerate new healthy cells.

So for a coffee scrub here’s what you do…

Combine ¼ cup of good quality coffee grounds with three tablespoons of raw sugar and two tablespoons of melted organic coconut oil. Mix well to form a paste then store in a glass jar. Take a small amount then rub and massage firmly into the affected area for 2-3 minutes. Rinse off with warm water after 20 minutes. Repeat this 3-5 times a week and continue until your cellulite is gone.

For a coffee wrap here’s what you do…

Warm up ½ cup of coffee grounds and a dash of extra-virgin olive oil (enough to make a paste) by placing in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Evenly spread the mixture over your cellulite and then cover it with some plastic wrap. Leave on for 30 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. Do this 2-3 times a week for best results.

“Natural Remedies for Cellulite” #13… Detox Bath:

Detox baths are a great way to get rid of those awful toxins lurking in your fat cells. Of course, getting rid of toxins means getting rid of cellulite fast too so be sure you give this one a go. At the very least, a nice detox bath is extremely soothing and relaxing after a hard days work!

For your detox bath, dissolve ¼ cup of epsom salt, ¼ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of sea salt and 1/3 of a cup of apple cider vinegar in a nice hot bath. Soak in and relax for at least 30 minutes. Do this once or twice a week.

Note: After a detox bath you may feel quite tired and even light headed. This is normal (all of those nasty toxins have just been pulled out through the pores of your skin). For these reasons, it's recommended you don't have your detox bath while home alone or at the start of the day. 1

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” #14… Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is one of the best all-round health elixirs on God’s green earth! There’s pretty much not a single health problem that can’t be helped or fixed with a little coconut oil. And fat reduction and cellulite reduction are definitely two of them!

Lots of women have had great success using coconut oil both as an internal and external remedy for cellulite. For internal benefit, simply consume 1-2 tablespoons of raw, virgin coconut oil three times daily. For external benefit, use in conjunction with grapefruit oil by rubbing on the cellulite affected areas for 3-5 minutes after a detox bath or dry skin brush/shower. Coconut oil helps hydrate the skin while the grapefruit essential oil contains high amounts of the anti-inflammatory enzyme bromelain, which helps to break down cellulite. So to make all you do is combine 30 drops of grapefruit essential oil with one cup of organic virgin coconut oil. Store in a glass container and use as needed.

“Natural Treatment for Cellulite” #15… Aerobic and Anaerobic Exercise:

How exercise removes cellulite

Cellulite is essentially a fat, so removing the fat from your body will help to remove cellulite. There are two ways to effectively do this…

1.   Burn the fat (aerobic)

2.   Build and tone the muscle (anaerobic)

You really need to incorporate both of these if you want to completely remove cellulite. The other bonus is you end up with a nicely shaped and toned body that you can be proud of.

So to burn the fat it’s easy… just get “huffy and puffy” for 40 minutes a day 3 times a week. This can be any form of exercise… a brisk walk, cycling, aerobics, it doesn’t really matter as long as you get yourself to a point where you're puffing but could still carry on a conversation. Aerobic exercise is also best done first thing in the morning before you’ve eaten, so that way, your body consumes body fat for energy rather than food. It's recommended that you have your cayenne pepper and green tea about an hour beforehand though as these are potent fat burners (thermogenics) and will also give you a nice energy boost.

To build and tone the muscle, it’s a little more involved. Weight training is the only real and effective way to build and tone muscle. The other benefit of weight training is it burns body fat, so it’s technically an anaerobic and aerobic type of exercise. So you actually get the best of both worlds with this, which is absolutely perfect for anyone with cellulite. If you’ve had no experience with weight training before then it would be advisable to find someone who’s experienced in this or find a good gym that can help you. You have the option of doing free weights on your own or group classes such as Les Mills Grit or Plyo. Both are excellent and extremely effective. Once again, be sure to have a teaspoon of cayenne pepper and a pot of green tea an hour before your workout for an extra boost and fat burning aid.

“Home Remedies for Cellulite” Final Word…

Well, that ends this article on natural remedies for cellulite. And yes we know, there are more remedies and treatments out there for cellulite reduction, but we’ve found feedback to be quite poor with these so we’ve purposely left them out. You have more than enough to choose from here anyway. So try and utilize and use as many of the remedies listed above as you can for the best and fastest results. And please, make a decision to make the internal remedies we’ve listed a lifestyle (and lifetime) choice rather than just a temporary fix for your cellulite. Remember, these home remedies aren’t just about getting rid of your cellulite and giving you a smokin hot looking bod (joke), they’re also about making you a much healthier and happier person as well.

So get out there and go for it!

Good luck and all the best.
