Top 10 Home Remedies to Treat Skin Rashes...

by Ella James, Miami, Florida, USA

Skin rashes are caused by a variety of factors such as anxiety, food allergies, or by a skin disease such as eczema. When a person develops a rash, skin color will usually change, along with its texture. Rashes can also cause the skin to become bumpy, chapped, cracked, dry, blistered and swollen. When someone develops a skin rash, they typically have a doctor or dermatologist prescribe them medication to help resolve the problem. They can also use home made remedies as a solution.

Here are the top 10 home remedies to treat skin rashes...

Glycerin:

Glycerin is a substance that can moisturize and cool a person's upper dermis layer when it's irritated. It can be used in the form of a lotion or as soap, and it works really fast for bringing relief to affected areas.

Mint:

A person can boil one ounce of dried mint leaves in water and apply it to their skin after the solution cools. This herb works because of its anti-inflammatory properties and helps to smooth the skin. One can also include anti-inflammatory foods in their diet for clearer skin as well.

Baking Soda:

The ingredients in baking soda are also excellent for soothing skin. As a matter of fact, a person can make a paste out of this substance by combining three-fourths baking soda and one-fourth water and applying it to the skin. Taking a baking soda bath with one cup of baking soda added is also recommended.

Oatmeal:

Many skin care companies already use the ingredient oatmeal in their cosmetic products. People can also make "at home" oatmeal remedies for their skin by turning oats into a paste with the use of water. The paste can be then be applied to the skin after it has been formed. No person should ever put hot oatmeal on their body though. An oatmeal paste should only be made by mixing cool or warm water with oats.

Thyme:

Thyme contains an anti-inflammatory ingredient called thymol. This substance has the ability to numb the sensations
that typically accompany itchy skin. It also works as an anesthetic to help numb the pain. Thyme is usually sold in dried leaf form and can be boiled in water to create a liquid solution. Once this solution cools, it can be applied to the skin.

Soothing Oils:

Certain oils such as chamomile, bay leaf, calendula and lavender all have the ability to sooth a person's skin. Sufferers can apply these oils directly to their skin, or add them to a bathtub full of water. Coconut and almond oil are also great for this purpose.

Basil:

Basil uses an active ingredient called eugenol to bring relief from skin rashes. This substance acts as an antiseptic on rashes. Since basil is a spice, it's naturally sold in leaf form. The leafs should be boiled in water to create a solution. Once the solution has cooled, it can be applied directly to the skin.

Aloe Vera:

For thousands of years, people have been using aloe vera for skin care. This plant based remedy has antibacterial, antifungal and soothing properties. People typically apply this substance to their skin in the form of lotions and creams. They can also apply it directly to their skin from an aloe vera plant.

Lemon Juice:

Lemon juice is a natural ingredient that does wonders for skin problems. This liquid has powerful antiseptic and anti-inflammatory qualities and is good at destroying bacteria. Lemon juice should be applied directly to the skin on infected areas. It will burn, but it will also relieve the pain and itching once the burning sensation has subsided.
